The purpose of this FOA is to have a significant impact on reducing rates of teen pregnancy and existing disparities (see pages 7-8) by replicating evidence-based TPP programs to scale in at least 3 settings in communities and with populations at greatest need. Under the 2016 - 2020 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS), USAID/Zimbabwe anticipates awarding a five-year $25 million cooperative agreement to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) at the national level and in Manicaland province. This award will be made through a full and open competition, under which any type of organization is eligible to apply. Building on the achievements of current USAID-supported activities, the purpose of the activity is improved maternal, youth, and child health and survival in beneficiary communities and populations. This activity will improve the health of women, youth, and children in Manicaland by strengthening maternal, newborn, child health and family planning (integrated MNCH-FP) service delivery throughout the continuum of care, i.e., from the home, to the community, to the primary care facility, and to the tertiary referral hospital. Continuum of care refers to a concept involving a system that guides and tracks patients over time through a comprehensive array of health services spanning all levels and intensity of care. Integrated MNCH-FP service delivery refers to combining together MNCH and FP health services in order to expand access to care, increase efficiencies, and improve health outcomes. The activity will also increase access to a broader range of family planning methods through outreach services at the national level.
The purpose of this program is to more effectively respond to the needs of children, youth, and young adults with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and their families by providing information, referrals, and support; and to create a mechanism for families to participate in state and local mental health services planning and policy development. This population of focus will hereafter be referred to as children and youth. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) and Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2015 Statewide Peer Networks for Recovery and Resiliency (Short Title: Statewide Peer Networks for R&R) grants. The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) plans to provide funds for Head Start Graduate Student Research Grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are working in partnership with Head Start programs and with faculty mentors. Competitive applicants will 1) demonstrate a collaborative partnership with their program partners, and 2) pursue research questions that directly inform local, State, or Federal policy relevant to multiple early care and education practices. The AABC Foundation, was established in 1994 by American Association of Birth Centers to advance public knowledge and understanding of issues related to family-centered childbirth. The foundation raises funds to support the advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women's health care. Based on wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility, operating with a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth.
To advance its mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to support research projects on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations and nonprofit status or sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project's timeline.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2013 Campus Suicide Prevention grants. The purpose of this program is to facilitate a comprehensive approach to preventing suicide in institutions of higher education. This program is designed to assist colleges and universities build a foundation for their efforts to prevent suicide attempts and completions and to enhance services for students with mental and substance use disorders that put them at risk for suicide and suicide attempts. The Campus Suicide Prevention grants support an array of campus activities to help grantees build a solid foundation for delivering and sustaining effective mental health and substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. Successful applicants will provide "roadmap" of the process by which they have assessed or intend to assess suicide prevention needs and plan/implement infrastructure development strategies that meet those needs. The plan put forward in the grant application must show the linkages among needs, the proposed infrastructure development strategy, and increased system capacity that will enhance and sustain effective prevention programs and services which support SAMHSA's Prevention of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Strategic Initiative. The aim of the Changemakers in Family Planning grant is to respond to institutionalized racism in the field of family planning by providing dedicated support for awardees to expand research skills and expertise. Awardees will have the opportunity to spend 18 months honing research skills and interests. Expected deliverables at the end of the award period are the development of a full proposal for future research and completion of career development activities.
